Ford Transit Connect is getting a new 1.5 turbo diesel

24 March 2017, 8:43 am

The Transit Connect panel van has become the newest beneficiary of Ford’s small diesel rollout, as their 1.6 liter TDCi is being replaced by the new generation 1.5 liter engine. Peak power in this application is up to 88kW from 85kW and is backed by 270Nm through a six speed manual gearbox.

It is available in South Africa in a long wheelbase Ambiente trim with 3.6 cubic meters of cargo bay that’s accessed by hinged back doors as well as a kerbside sliding door, six tie-down points and a payload of 1 000kg. Standard kit includes an emergency brake warning and rollover mitigation, an electronic stability program control with hill hold, aircon, power front windows, power steering, a two speaker audio setup with Bluetooth connectivity, Aux and USB ports as well as satellite controls on the steering wheel.

At no extra cost, you can also order it with dual passenger seats and a load-through hatch as well as window in the standard steel bulkhead that is between the cabin and the load bin compartment instead of the standard bench seat. The extra cost Ambiente Option Pack also includes an LED load compartment light, front and back parking sensors with a reversing camera display in the rear view mirror and tyre pressure monitoring.

The Transit Connect 1.5 TDCi LWB Ambiente is selling for R323 900 that is also including a 4 year/120 000km warranty, three year’s roadside assistance as well as a 4 year/60 000km service plan. Service intervals are 15 000km which means that your first four services are free.
