Apple goes both big with iPhone 6 and small with a Smartwatch

10 September 2014, 7:42 am

Apple introduced on Tuesday a highly anticipated smartwatch. The smartwatch, is named the Apple Watch, is a miniature computer which is strapped around the wrist and is the first product that was made under mr Cook’s, the chief executive of Apple, leadership that is branching Apple into a new type of product. Although the Apple Watch is the company’s first wearable computer, it is entering a crowded field.

Despite the fanfare with which the news media has been greeting Apple’s first wearable device, analysts have been expressing mixed views about its potential to become a mainstream. Seven Jobs, former chief of Apple, made it work with the iPod, now the question remains is Apple going to be able to do the same thing with the watch? Mr Cook stated in an interview that the new watch had shown that the company was still innovative. He also commented that for them it is never about being first, it is about being the best.

The new iPhones are significant upgrades for the Apple smartphone lineup, by far still the company’s largest source of profit. And they are a rare instance of Apple’s following market trend instead of creating them. In Apple’s new watch will gave customers a pulse monitor, quick access to messages and the time. The watch will also be having a strong focus on health, the watch has a rectangular screen for its face with a flexible display and is coming in two sizes. The smartwatch can run various apps like map navigation, a calendar and a music player. The smartwatch will be relying on so-called inductive charging to refill the battery.

The two new iPhones are the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus, measuring 4.7” and 5.5” diagonally, the most recent iPhones was measuring at 4”. Both the iPhones has got aluminum back, despite of the larger screens, the bodies are thinner than those of the previous iPhones. The processor inside the new iPhones is more or less 25% faster than the past version. And in addition, they support making phone calls over a Wi-Fi network and have an improved camera with a sensor which reads light and is doing a faster autofocus.

The starting price of an iPhone 6 with a contract is $200, for an iPhone 6 Plus $300. They will on sale on 19 September.
