Toyota’s Avanza’s active safety upgrade

17 October 2016, 8:00 am

It has been four years since Toyota had launched the current generation Avanza compact MPV on the South African market, yet it has received a number of updates since then, especially to the exterior trim as well as a revised dashboard.

Although, the latest update, announced on 14 October along with revised pricing, is not something that you will see from the outside. However, it is a significant upgrade from an active safety point of view: from now on all new Avanza models in South Africa will be coming with vehicle stability control, that include brake assist as well as traction control as a standard issue.

Of course, ABS is already standard across the range, as are the electronic brake force distribution, driver and front passenger airbags and three point seatbelts that were introduced a year ago. The current line-up of the five MPV models as well as the panel van is staying otherwise unchanged, while their prices had gone up by R4 400 across the range. The new prices for the Toyota Avanza is from R219 100 to R277 100 and for the Panel Van R224 400.
